Play in the right place is a Korero at our school. Our principal told us to play in the right place , because people get hurt. Hope you like my animation based on this Korero!!!

Tech at Tamaki College.

The chattering of children filled the street. You could hear the echo of everyone, hurting my eardrums. We all looked like a flock of sheep, with teachers as shepherds. The Intermediate assembled in the street and sat down quietly, because we all knew we were heading off to tech at Tamaki college . I was in the group 7a with my buddy and captain Toreka.

“WOW” was what I thought when I saw the room. I had just stepped into a new environment,and I wasn’t used to it. “ Grab a stool and take a seat “ said a mysterious man. I walked to an empty table and took a chair. Just then the man introduced himself” My name is Mr Grundy and I am your teacher “. So he is our teacher “ I thought. Then his thundering voice filled the class again: “ Now this is the class of wood works...

I glanced at all of the tools around this class and I must tell you I was a bit weary of using them, but apart from that I was excited. I didn’t know what to expect from this class. I was so jiggly and jumpy, because it was my first ever option class at Tamaki College, and I wanted to remember it.

“ UURGH “I said. I was getting frustrated with myself. Do you know why? Because I didn’t have any Ideas. I was trying to think outside the box but my brain was getting tired. My piece of paper was sitting there, It looked like it was staring at me, mocking me. Just then I had a tick in my brain. It was like my hands were doing the work for themselves. When I was done with my designs I had a variety of options to choose from. At the end I decided to make....Woops it was supposed to be a surprise.

Sadly the lesson had come to an end. I moved sluggishly to the door. I reluctantly dragged my legs to the steps. That lesson was a good one, I left wishing it could have lasted a bit longer.

Destruction down South

We were all devastated to find out that Christchurch has yet again been hit with another monstrous earthquake. Everywhere people looked there was debris for miles and miles, and people were helping survivors out from beneath piles of rubble. There was chaos in the streets ,as people were trying to look for their loved ones through all the destruction. To all the people in Christchurch: I hope you are all safe and get through this catastrophe. My condolences are with you.

Christmas Cheers!!

“Wake up everybody!! “ I screamed. I was running up and down the hallway shouting until my throat hurt. After a “while I walked into the living room. I stared at the amazing sight that stood in front of me. “ It’s finally here “ I said. “ Christmas .

I was jiggly and jumpy all morning. I just couldn’t wait till the rest of my family woke up. I kept on glancing at the clock to keep track of time. Just then I heard my family rush to the tree. I was trying to push through the havoc so I could open my present first. “ Oh bummer “. I didn;t get to the tree fast enough.

Finally it was my turn in line. Snatching the first present in sight, I savagely ripped the wrapper off. It revealed a complete kit for your hair. I was so grateful. It was even my favourite colour: Dark blue. “ I thanked my Mum by giving her a hug and saying Merry Christmas to her.The best part of the morning was opening my favourite present of all: My Justin Bieber shirt. As soon as I saw it I screamed: A JUSTIN BIEBER SHIRT. OMG!!! Hugging my shirt to my chest I kept it in it’s package for the whole day.

When i finished getting ready , I went to the front yard where all the fuss was happening. Glancing around, I saw pools being put up, a HUGE beach ball and our FEAST. Our front yard was like a clan of worker bees doing different jobs. So I went over to ask if anyone needed any help, so I ended up helping my sister put the pool up. It was a really wet job, but I got through it.

After the prayer, we got to overload our bowls with salads like:
Patato salad
Crab salad
Raw fish
Prawn salad
And heaps of other foods that I don’t have time to talk about right now.
As I took the first mouthful of Patato salad, the mayonnaise melted in my mouth. It was so delicious. I love my mum’s home made patato salad.

“ SPLASH” is the sound I made when I jumped into the pool. It was freezing cold. I was standing there as still as a statue, in one spot shivering , feeling sorry for my legs as they were the ones suffering from the horrible coldness. Then just as I was about to hop out, I felt hands on my back push with full force , and there I was: falling head first into the water. As I got up I glanced around the pool, to see if anyone had noticed and there he was : My little brother Leka was standing there laughing. “ Oh brother”. I’m going to get you Leka!!!

As the day ended, everyone was getting tired. We were packing up everything like, dirty dishes, dirty tables and lots of inflatable bouncy castles. When I was done, I made my way to the living room, where it was nice and cosy. I grabbed my cup of Milo, sat down and watched T.V by myself. It was the best Christmas ever, and I would never change this Christmas for anything.

I see net books EVERYWHERE!!

Finally the day came. I saw the shiny coat of black as I unwrapped it. It was just sitting in front of me. That was the first time I saw my net book. We were told not to touch it but I couldn't help it. I tapped the net book.

" Now you can open it" said Mrs Burt. My heart was beating fast and I was just excited to finally use it for the first time. When I opened it I saw lots of features like: A tiny camera, a mini mouse and the little keys. It was the cutest net book I had ever seen. The best thing about it was that it was black.

I would just like to say thank you to Mr and Mrs Burt for getting us these precious net books. I am sure that everyone is thankful.

Anyway that was what I thought when I first saw and used my net book. Thanks.

Ambassador -Television

In 2010 I have been an ambassador for Pt England School. My role has been to talk about my learning to hundreds of visitors who have come to our school from all over the country and around the world.

This is the transcript of my presentation:

"One of the ways we share our learning at Pt England School is through television. Mr Burt set this up in 1996, so you can work out that we have been doing this for a long time now - fourteen years in fact!

The Pt England News network goes to air 4 days a week and each episode is about 10 minutes long. We remind the school about the events of the day, the UV rating and what has been happening in sport around Pt England, New Zealand and the World!

But most importantly, every day a class gets to tell the whole school about what they have been learning. Every class is timetabled to have the opportunity at least once a term to make a movie for PENN about the learning going on in the class. This is given to the PENN production team so they can include it in the programme for the day. Because of this, every student at Pt England has the chance to be on PENN at least once a term.

The Production team for PENN is managed by Mrs Tele'a. Behind the scenes she has a small team of Year 7 students who produce the show each day. They will tell you more about what they do if you visit the elearning Centre. She also has a small camera crew of Year 6 students who film the content.

In front of the camera there is a larger group of Year 5 and 6 students who anchor the show. These presenters are timetabled on for a week at a time.
The entire crew has to be at school at 8 oclock in the morning so we can get PENN recorded and edited by the time school starts at ten to nine.

In 2001 Mr Burt had the great idea of sharing our learning with our community via public television and so schoolTV was born. At 5.45 every Wednesday our whanau can sit back in their own comfortable chairs at home and watch the highlights of the week from PENN. Mrs Tele'a produces and edits this show before it goes to air on Triangle Television.
This is an Auckland based channel, but if you have FreeView you can see it anywhere in New Zealand.

We also enjoy creating movies for the big screen. We have film festivals, multi media productions and other events where we can create special movies that showcase our technical and acting talents as well as our learning.

And you may have noticed in our foyer that we share our learning on a different type of screen again. This is Campus Channel where we can upload our television content over the internet and add up-to-date messages for everyone to read using a feed from Twitter.

I think that publishing on all these different types of screens helps us learn how to be confident."

Insect comparisons

..." And over here is my comparison to a Commonwealth game winner, Nicole Forrester". This is my display comparing a little critter to a champion in the Commonwealth games. If you don't know who she is, let me explain:

1. She won the gold medal in high jump.

2. She comes from Canada.

3. She is the best High jumper in Canada.
