Last term, A good number of students from Room 20 were asked to write a letter to Anne Tolley (Minister Of Education) informing her as to why we should keep Pt England as a Full Primary. We worked on our letters over and over again, until our final edit was perfect. After we sent the letters, we waited anxiously for a reply. Then one day we got a letter from Anne Tolley saying that she was very impressed with our letters and that she would take our letters into consideration. So here is my letter to Anne Tolley:

Dear Minister of Education - Anne Tolley,

I am writing this letter to inform you on why we should keep Pt England’s year 7 and 8 classes.

This is a great school, because of it’s many unique qualities. Below I am going to state the many reasons why I along with my family made the decision for me to attend this full primary.

The main reasons I chose to stay here is that our voices can be heard. From year 2, aged 7 I’ve had this opportunity. For example one way that our voices can be heard is through PODCASTING. That is when 2 students review a book. Then they publish their review on our KPE blog for the WHOLE world to listen to . Some of our very own year 6 students are chosen to recite their very own script to visitors from across the globe. They focus on the 3 main areas of education: Learn, Create and Share.

Another reason is that ,at the beginning of EVERY term, all of the teachers dress up in wacky costumes that amuse all of the children. This is called immersion assembly. The reason for this is that they are trying to immerse us in the school wide inquiry through little acts. There is an important value, behind all of this. The values are like a way of ensuring that our school is a great place to be.

My 3rd reason is that everyday we get to tell people around the world what we have been up to. They can also comment on a particular post that they like, they can say what they liked about the writing and give you some tips on what you could improve. We also have learnt lots of Technical skills that come in handy in some situations ,when there is a problem of our net books.

We will all be shocked if this important part of our school was to be removed. Most of the year 7 and 8’s, have had great experiences and memories here: Take me and my classmates for example. We have been here since year 1 and we know that this is the best place for us. Also, I want my younger siblings to experience and have all of the opportunities that I have had.

The Term just ZOOMED past!!!!

My highlight for this term was art with Miss Muliaumaseali'i. Surprisingly my art turned out to be pretty cool if you look at it from a different point of view. Another personal achievement is that I started participating in class discussions more often than I did before, but in the future I wish that I could become more confident.

I am looking forward to a fresh new term, and also to see what the topic is. I wish I learn great new things!!!

Antarctic struggle!!!

When the sliding doors parted, a rush of wind blew into my face. I smelt the stench of Chlorine, when I started to make my way to the changing rooms. I saw 3 swimmers skimming the surface while they were doing freestyle.

After I was changed, I strolled down to the edge of the pool. As I clambered in, I felt the coldness of the water, splash onto my skin. I heard Mr Harris’ demanding voice tell me to do a whole lap of the pool. I dove into the chilling water. My arms were forced to move through the Turbulence. I was trying to ignore the fact that I was freezing to death.

“Nearly there, Just a little bit more.....” I was chanting to myself. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it was going to pop out of my chest. My legs were aching, my arms were moving like they were windmills and I thought I was going to die. Then all of a sudden I hit a hard wall. I could feel the throbbing in my head. I can’t believe I was SO distracted that I bumped into the wall, that indicated that it was the end of this swimming session.

I came out of the changing rooms with eyes that were ruby red.I felt blind because every time the wind made contact with my eyes, they shut completely like traps. Making my way to school was even harder, It was like having a blind fold on, and the word bit about it I had no one to lean on.There was good news and bad news, the good news was that it was another done day at the swimming pools. The bad news: We still had 4 days to go until swimming was over. Well at least I got back to school...ALIVE!!!

In Room 20 we were learning about "Discovery". I had a partner ( Who was Sylvia) and we worked together to put this presentation together. Now enjoy OUR presentation about the Man behind Mona Lisa.

Maths Problem

In Room 20 we are learning how to use lots of strategies to solve all kinds of problems. This strategy that I have used is called place value.

Why, oh, why does Maths have to be so hard???
