SWIMARAMA!!!!

“SPLASH!!!”. Dropping to the bottom of the pool, bubbles rose all around me. Rising to the top of the pool, I screamed out: “IT’S SOO COLD!!! I felt like I just dived into a pool of melted ice! My hair was dripping wet, which made it go frizzy. I dove back into the water and opened my eyes. The water was clear, but blurry at the same time. Feeling cold, I got out and made my way to the Hydroslide.

I was waiting impatiently in line. The cool breeze flew past me and sent a shiver down my spine. Goosebumps appeared on the surface of my skin. I was next in line. “Suck on Sauce!!” Seini-Mino screamed, as she slid down the slide. It was my turn. Sitting down on the platform, I awaited anxiously for the light to turn green. “GO SELENA!!” Athena shouted. I let go and slid down. Looking back, I saw Athena and the rest of the people disappear into blackness. I felt water rushing past me at a great speed. I was sliding in total darkness, then I saw a hint of light. Knowing that I was near the end, I braced myself for the wave that I was about to hit....”Splash!!” Water went all over my face. That was the most exciting hydroslide experience ever.

Coming out of the hydroslide, I was shivering. Grabbing my bags I made my way to the bathroom to take a nice shower. Turning on the shower, a huge gush of nice warm water covered my body. I’ve never been so relieved to have a shower in my life.

It was the end of Camp, and we spent our last day at Swimarama. It was a cool camp because I got to share the experience with my close friends, and also It’s our last year together so It was all worth while.

Amazing Camp TC

Do I have to Mum?” I groaned. My Mother had woken me up from my sleep. “ If you want to go to your senior camp you have to wake up NOW!” Mum screamed angrily. I got out of bed and crawled to the door, with my eyes still half closed. I glanced at the clock, it was........6:00 o’clock...IN THE MORNING!!! My Mum told me to stop groaning, because it was a reasonable time to wake me up at. A reasonable time, seriously??? It’s more like torture to me.

I finally arrived at school ready to camp on the field once more. Strolling through the street, I saw the excited expressions on my friends faces. You could hear the deep rumble in the hall from the street, because everyone was pulling their suitcases to their group’s spot. There were plenty of adults around carrying bags and piles of delicious food.

We were racing to the pole. The kayak was cutting through the water. “ OWWW “, water splashed into my eye, the salt in the water was stinging. I suddenly felt the kayak come to a halt. I rubbed my eye like crazy, struggling to get that horrible feeling out of my eye. I breathed a sigh of relief as the pain began to fade away. The race between us and Shontal was over and the winner is: Shontal . Oh well better luck next time I said to myself.

Waiting patiently on the plank, I was teasing the other team. You could hear the despair in their voices when they miss the shot. Just then you could hear a bang. “ SPLASH!!!” is the noise I made when I fell into the water. It was freezing, but refreshing and plus: It was a scorching hot day. I had officially been dunked!!!

After a long and tiring day out and about the school grounds, I returned back to my tent along with my tent buddies Toreka and Mubasshira. I snatched my cutlery and ran back out of my tent. My stomach was grumbling, so I quickly made my way to line up with my team. As soon as I collected my food, I sat down with my friends and took my first bite of my food. The scrumptious taste of chicken ran down my throat. “ Lovely chicken” I said with a sigh.

“ Boom, Boom “ My heart was beating fast. I had a gut feeling about this. Then I heard Mrs Langitupu announce that it was the Respectablez turn. I was about to turn and run to the exit, but then I heard the support and encouragement of my friends, that’s when I had the courage to do the item. A few minutes later the teachers were going to announce the winners, here were the highest places:

3rd place: Responsibles

2nd place: Thinkers

Now it was the moment of truth, Who won? I had doubts about us winning, and I am sure that the rest of my team agreed with me. And the winner was: RESPECTABLEZ!! You could hear a large roar in the crowd. “ YAY WE WON “.

From the senior camp I learnt how to take charge and be respectful to those who are older than me and to those who are around me.

The end of the term is coming up, so to fill you in on everything here are some of my highlights.

Highlight 1:
My first highlight of term is talking to the famous Nike shoe designer D'Wayne Edwards. He told us his life story and he became part of the NIKE shoe cooperation. He talked about how people didn't believe in him , but that was kind of a good thing because that motivated him to keep on trying. the most interesting thing that I found out about him is how his garage is full with all of his shoes he has designed. I would like to say something to D'Wayne Edwards: Thank you for putting some time aside to talk to us and the rest of the ROW collaboration. It was a privilege talking to you.

Highlight 2:
Second , Camp Kindness. I would like to thank everyone who helped out with the food , watch us at night and organised the whole thing. The food was soo delicious and it really filled me up. I felt really safe when people helped stayed at night. I take it , you were absolutely tired. This week on Thursday are the camp awards, I will do a post about it on the first week of term. I loved everything about camp and I think I speak for everyone who was involved.

Highlight 3:
Lastly, I liked doing animations in class about history. We were learning about the treaty of Waitangi and what it was like before it was signed. We did three animations about the treaty of Waitangi. My favourite animation was the first one because it was the easiest.

Goal:
My goal for next term is to read more and do more podcasts. This term I only had time to do one podcast. The next one I am doing is called Old Bones. The book I am currently reading is called Blackwater. It is a thriller and I am going do a podcast on that book as well so check out my blog in the second week of term two and you will see a podcast tab, click on that and it will take you to my podcasts and it will be there. I would tell you who I am going to be doing the podcast with , but it will spoil the surprise.

I think next terms topic is going to be about volcanoes and land. I think the name is going to be Land Ahoy.

The End.
