Amazing Camp TC

Do I have to Mum?” I groaned. My Mother had woken me up from my sleep. “ If you want to go to your senior camp you have to wake up NOW!” Mum screamed angrily. I got out of bed and crawled to the door, with my eyes still half closed. I glanced at the clock, it was........6:00 o’clock...IN THE MORNING!!! My Mum told me to stop groaning, because it was a reasonable time to wake me up at. A reasonable time, seriously??? It’s more like torture to me.

I finally arrived at school ready to camp on the field once more. Strolling through the street, I saw the excited expressions on my friends faces. You could hear the deep rumble in the hall from the street, because everyone was pulling their suitcases to their group’s spot. There were plenty of adults around carrying bags and piles of delicious food.

We were racing to the pole. The kayak was cutting through the water. “ OWWW “, water splashed into my eye, the salt in the water was stinging. I suddenly felt the kayak come to a halt. I rubbed my eye like crazy, struggling to get that horrible feeling out of my eye. I breathed a sigh of relief as the pain began to fade away. The race between us and Shontal was over and the winner is: Shontal . Oh well better luck next time I said to myself.

Waiting patiently on the plank, I was teasing the other team. You could hear the despair in their voices when they miss the shot. Just then you could hear a bang. “ SPLASH!!!” is the noise I made when I fell into the water. It was freezing, but refreshing and plus: It was a scorching hot day. I had officially been dunked!!!

After a long and tiring day out and about the school grounds, I returned back to my tent along with my tent buddies Toreka and Mubasshira. I snatched my cutlery and ran back out of my tent. My stomach was grumbling, so I quickly made my way to line up with my team. As soon as I collected my food, I sat down with my friends and took my first bite of my food. The scrumptious taste of chicken ran down my throat. “ Lovely chicken” I said with a sigh.

“ Boom, Boom “ My heart was beating fast. I had a gut feeling about this. Then I heard Mrs Langitupu announce that it was the Respectablez turn. I was about to turn and run to the exit, but then I heard the support and encouragement of my friends, that’s when I had the courage to do the item. A few minutes later the teachers were going to announce the winners, here were the highest places:

3rd place: Responsibles

2nd place: Thinkers

Now it was the moment of truth, Who won? I had doubts about us winning, and I am sure that the rest of my team agreed with me. And the winner was: RESPECTABLEZ!! You could hear a large roar in the crowd. “ YAY WE WON “.

From the senior camp I learnt how to take charge and be respectful to those who are older than me and to those who are around me.

Alligator Alley

The highlight of Camp TC for me was Rock up,and the activity I am writing about is Alligator Alley. The aim of this activity is that: You have to use 3 tyres and 2 planks to get your whole team across the ally before the other teams.

Unfortunately we didn't win, but we came in second place. The most valuable lesson of all is to trust in other people’s ideas because sometimes they are good and sometimes they are bad, but you will never know if they are either unless you try them out.

Together
Everyone
Achieves
More

I really enjoyed Rock up, but I think that the life lesson in this is that you have to work as a team
to get through.

Welcome to Point England school

This is a glimpse of what happens at Pt England school. It has little snapshots of what we do and how we do them. It also has a photo of our new Intermediate. You'll see clips of new entrants lining up and Senior boys playing on the court. The Pt England way is important to us because it helps us understand how to respect other people, mould our behavior, taking charge of our belongings and classroom tools and lastly to take charge of our learning. Hope you enjoy watching this movie.

How to pitch a tent

Equipment:
A tent package including:
Pegs
Hammer ( Mallet ) Poles
base Fly
Interior

Method:
1. Open the package and unfold the tent and make sure you have the following equipment which are listed above. The following equipment are essential: Hammer or Mallet. As soon as that has happened put the fly aside and start working with your base (Make sure your door is facing the right way).

2. As soon as you have separated the fly and the tent, get the pegs and nail it down with a hammer .The corner of the tent have little (eyelets) and make sure you have nailed it at around about a 45 degree angle. This is so then they don't come out easily and while camping your tent does not break down.

3. Get the poles out. Be careful because there are 3 poles and 2 have the same length and that is long, But the other one is the shortest one. You don’t need to use the short one, you use it later for the fly.

4. Now lay the two longer poles out in a X shape. Where the corners are of the inner tent, you can see that there are hooks , so you hook them on to the poles that are on the top of them. Now you need to tie it to the middle of the poles. Now place the fly over the top of the tent and make sure that the door is facing the front.

5. Now that you have finished that, throw the fly over the tent and and when you start working with the fly make sure the door is closed. So then it goes perfectly. Thread the short pole through the sleeve of the fly. This will make the top of the tent stable. Make sure the pole is secured to the ground.

6.Nail the Guy ropes down but here is a useful hint: nail the Guy ropes on the edges first so the tent has good balance.

7.When you are finished with the Guy ropes, there will be some hooks, you will need to hook it on to the poles.

8. Now you are finished, make sure that all the Guy ropes and the pegs are secure and tight.

9. Enjoy camping in your tent and if your breaks down during 24 hours, please don’t accuse us.

Pie chart

If you are wondering how I got this data, this is what I did:
Well I made a form on Google docs and I sent it to everyone in my classroom to fill out. Once the survey was completed by everyone in the class, I got the data and sorted it out into groups. I created a new sheet, to create a tally of the data. Copied my data into my new card. Then I made it into a pie chart.

If I look at this graph, I see that 43.5% people in my class want to go to Hawaii, and only 34.8% want to go to America. I was surprised because I made a prediction that America would be the most popular.

Play in the right place

Play in the right place is a Korero at our school. Our principal told us to play in the right place , because people get hurt. Hope you like my animation based on this Korero!!!

Tech at Tamaki College.

The chattering of children filled the street. You could hear the echo of everyone, hurting my eardrums. We all looked like a flock of sheep, with teachers as shepherds. The Intermediate assembled in the street and sat down quietly, because we all knew we were heading off to tech at Tamaki college . I was in the group 7a with my buddy and captain Toreka.

“WOW” was what I thought when I saw the room. I had just stepped into a new environment, and I wasn’t used to it. “ Grab a stool and take a seat “ said a mysterious man. I walked to an empty table and took a chair. Just then the man introduced himself” My name is Mr Grundy and I am your teacher “. So he is our teacher “ I thought. Then his thundering voice filled the class again: “ Now this is the class of wood works...

I glanced at all of the tools around this class and I must tell you I was a bit weary of using them, but apart from that I was excited. I didn’t know what to expect from this class. I was so jiggly and jumpy, because it was my first ever option class at Tamaki College, and I wanted to remember it.

“ UURGH “I said. I was getting frustrated with myself. Do you know why? Because I didn’t have any Ideas. I was trying to think outside the box but my brain was getting tired. My piece of paper was sitting there, It looked like it was staring at me, mocking me. Just then I had a tick in my brain. It was like my hands were doing the work for themselves. When I was done with my designs I had a variety of options to choose from. At the end I decided to make....Woops it was supposed to be a surprise.

Sadly the lesson had come to an end. I moved sluggishly to the door. I reluctantly dragged my legs to the steps. That lesson was a good one, I left wishing it could have lasted a bit longer.
